Our story

Recruitment as a Lore, not a transaction.

FolkLore Recruitment was born from a simple conviction: the best placements don't come from matching a CV to a job spec : they come from truly understanding people. That means understanding a business beyond its headcount needs, and understanding a candidate beyond their resume - their motivations, their culture, who they really are. We built FolkLore to put people at the center of every process, on both sides of the table: client and candidate. Because recruitment shouldn't be transactional. It should be human.

The founder started her career recruiting international technology talents from Europe, then spent years on international assignments across Asia before planting roots in Hong Kong. Along the way she kept returning to the same insight: the most successful placements felt less like deals and more like stories, a person finding the place their skills, values and ambitions were built for.

Why FolkLore ? Folk is for people, but said the way you'd talk about people you actually know, not "candidates" or "clients." Lore is their story : where they've come from, what they care about, where they're headed. Put them together, and that's exactly how we work: we take the time to really know people, and to understand their story, before we ever try to match it to someone else's.

We are a boutique firm which allow us to keep every story personal.

Our approach

Four principles we never compromise on.

01

Specialist market knowledge

We focus on technology and engineering hiring, so we know the market, the stacks, and the people - not just the job titles.

02

A genuinely global network

Based in Hong Kong, working across APAC and internationally. We place talent where the work is.

03

Candidate experience first

Recruitment is personal. We treat every candidate like a client and every client like a long-term partner.

04

Speed without shortcuts

A senior, shortlist-ready first candidate within days. Quality and pace, not volume.
